SALARY RANGE:    $85,100 – $118,280
Base salary is determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.

CLOSING DATE:  This position will close on October 12, 2017.

LOCATION:    Gillette, WY

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Manage planning functions within the work management process at the Wyodak Mine for maintenance projects. Apply safety, maintenance leadership and expertise in supervision of maintenance crew. Schedule training classes that will enhance the skills of production and maintenance personnel to increase equipment availability and reduce maintenance.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:   Maintenance Manager 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Safety
    • Support corporate safety initiatives, promote a safe work environment and lead by example.
    • Ensure that employees and contractors comply with all Wyodak mine safety rules, MSHA regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Planning
    • Ensure that employees and contractors comply with all Wyodak mine safety rules, MSHA regulations, and environmental standards.
    • Plan work to meet company goals of achieving targeted availability for the mine.
    • Partner with maintenance and production staff to maintain minimum mechanical backlog at an acceptable level.
    • Assist the development of daily, weekly and long term planning schedules for the maintenance department.
    • Participate in weekly planning meetings.
    • Work on special projects as designated by the Maintenance Manager.
    • Schedule work for contractor personnel.
    • Work with Supply Chain as required for parts requisition, contract administration and accounting.
  • Training
    • Track and manage 5000-23 training certificates.
    • Track and manage training documents to ensure all mine personnel meet MSHA required documentation.
    • Develop and conduct classroom technical training for mine personnel.
    • Develop and maintain a collaborative working relationship with all mine personnel.
    • Demonstrate support of the company, its policies and personnel to other employees.
  • Supervisor
    • Support overhaul and outage work. Participate in outage project work planning and supervising as assigned.
    • Initiate and supervise the completion of mechanical maintenance projects on a daily basis to efficiently, timely, and economically with mine objectives.
    • Develop skills of hourly maintenance personnel by providing challenging situations and proper guidance to ensure their success.
    • Complete all required daily safety inspections, daily log books and incident reports in a timely manner.
    • Use a team approach for problem solving to ensure that all avenues are explored so assets are utilized safely, efficiently and financial risks are minimized.
    • Ensure completion of all required record keeping by crews in a timely manner (time tickets, task training, incident reports, shift reports, etc.)
    • Ensure completion of skill assessments and annual performance reviews.
    • Monitor work violations and initiate appropriate action as outlined in company policies. Partner with the Human Resource to ensure continuity.
    • Develop and maintain professional relations with personnel throughout Black Hills Corporation.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cross train and cover for Front Line Supervisor, Maintenance Manager, and Production Superintendent as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Maintain positive relationships with employees, customers, contractors, community and business leaders, and peers.
  • Teamwork is essential to this position.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 to 7 years supervisor experience preferred.
  • 2 years planning/scheduling maintenance jobs preferred.
  • Broad based experience emphasizing safety, mine operation, and maintenance.
  • Training experience desirable  

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • In depth knowledge of mine safety practices, mine equipment maintenance practices and applicable regulatory standards, including State of Wyoming and MSHA regulations.

SKILLS/ABILITY/OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to develop relationships at all organization levels.
  • Ability to make decisions, monitor and evaluate mobile and stationary mine equipment systems.

CERTIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALS:

  • Current Wyoming Surface Mine Foreman Certification.
  • Current MSHA 5000-23 Certification for Surface Coal Mining
