Cabela’s has an opening for a Retail Expertise Trainer at our Rapid City, SD retail store.

Position Overview:

This position is critical to Cabela’s in driving customer satisfaction and sales through ensuring their store represents that we are experts in the outdoor industry to those we passionately serve. This position is responsible for creating a training environment within their respective store.  Particularly, the Trainer is responsible for the training of all non-operational training and drives training accountability of the delivery of all operational training within the respective store.  The position seeks all opportunities to educate all sales outfitters on product and sales in order to directly align with Cabela’s Vision 2020 and to create and/or build upon a culture of product expertise and sales within the store.  The incumbent must be dynamic and collaborative in order to leverage corporate resources and internal subject matter experts within the store to teach others about product and sales techniques.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Creates an environment within their store of expertise through training methods of one-on-ones, group sessions, demonstrations, computer-based, vendor trainings, etc.
    • Product and Sales—Accountable for creating, delivering, and coordinating delivery of product and sales training activities and events within their store. Utilizes corporate Learning & Development resources and support as well as subject matter experts within the store and corporate/vendor resources to train outfitters on products we carry and sales techniques.  Understands and utilizes best learning methods to ensure knowledge retention.
    • System and Operational—Ensures that Outfitters are properly trained on the systems and operations necessary to do their job within their given store department. Works with department managers and leads to get them what they need to deliver the training.  During peak times, assists in training delivery.
  • Accountable for ensuring that Outfitters and Management are aware of the retention of learned principles. Mentors and coaches learned principles on the spot and as need be.  Conduct gap analysis to assess outfitter competency and ideal state for competency of our trained materials.

Also handles the Cabela’s Learning Management System (LMS) administration, assignment, and completion.

  • Delivers or coordinates trainings rolled out from an overall company level. Trainings could include, but are not limited to, 4Most Focus, Code of Conduct, Inclusion & Diversity trainings, Safety, Security.   Serves as backup or additional support for Traditions (new employee orientation) facilitation.
  • Responsible for orientation of new Outfitters to the store or to a new department within the store. Is accountable for orientation training that occurs between HR onboarding (paperwork, Traditions HR orientation) and on-the-job training that is conducted by the new Outfitter’s department.
  • Keeps up on training trends and facilitation best practices to serve as a dynamic trainer within the store.
  • Responsible for all training equipment and resources within the store.

 

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree

·         2 to 4+ Years experience

·         A background in management, training, or education with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to multi-task.

·         Flexibility with positive and progressive attitude and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

 

Other Skills/Abilities

  • Must be able to read documents, printouts, reports, computer screens and other written communication.
  • Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with customers and co-workers.
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk to fill orders, assist customers on the sales floor, etc.
  • Must be able to stock product at various racking levels, use step-stool or ladder, etc.
  • Must be able to place product on/off conveyor, trucks, shelving, etc.
  • Must be able to write, type and use phone system.
