PAY RANGE:       $62,650 – $110,300 (DOQ)

CLOSING DATE:     This position will close on April 21, 2016.

LOCATION:      Rapid City, SD


This position is expected to provide operational and strategic support of enterprise-wide networks. Network Engineers are accountable for equipment installations, problem resolution, vendor management, technical planning, cross-functional communications, and on-call support as required.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:     Manager, Network Engineering


  • Troubleshoot and support Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • System administration and support experience with Cisco IP Telephony systems.
  • Work with service providers to install and support voice, data, and Internet circuits (POTS lines, DSL, Cable Modems, DS1, DS3/Ethernet/cable modem/DSL).
  • Develop and maintain network documentation/diagrams.
  • Assist with installing, terminating, and testing cabling.
  • Work with the Helpdesk to resolve issues.
  • Maintain a high availability, security focused enterprise network environment.
  • Develop detailed technical designs and implementation strategies for key technology areas.
  • Develop and maintain network documentation/diagrams.


  • Adhere to internal processes related to change management, internal audit, human resources and disaster recovery policies/procedures.
  • Support BHSC IT and BHC goals and objectives


  • BHSC IT department teams, BHC business unit teams, and vendors.


  • 3 or more years of experience in network engineering and operations required.
  • Experience using network diagnostic software and equipment preferred.
  • Experience with the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of routers and switches preferred.


  • Associate’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.


  • Demonstrated knowledge of Cisco network designs and protocols.
  • Thorough understanding of all common IP protocols.
  • Knowledgeable in Windows and Linux Operating Systems.


  • Strong verbal and written communications skills to develop appropriate technology solutions to business needs.
  • Ability to design, test, implement and support high level network designs.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks with minimal supervision in a fast-paced business environment.


  • Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification strongly desired.
