Georgia-Pacific in Pineland, TX is hiring a Forklift Operator.  This role creates value by operating and performing maintenance on a forklift used to move, stack, and store lumber veneer which maintains upkeep of the warehouse. The Forklift Operator role is a skilled position that will operate in a fast-paced environment and allow the facility to sustain proper uptime, productivity goals, and all safety standards and codes.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Operate forklift to expected performance levels
  • Properly label, stack, and store all veneer loads
  • Assist crew members and work in a team environment
  • Maintain cleanliness of the warehouse and forklift
  • Maintain productivity performance standards
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • High School Diploma OR GED OR five (5) years in a manufacturing, industrial, construction, military, or warehouse environment
  • At least six (6) months of experience working in a manufacturing, military, industrial, construction, or warehouse environment
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment
  • Willing and able to change shifts when given short notice (e.g. one day’s notice)
  • Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • At least one (1) year of experience operating a forklift
  • A current forklift or other heavy equipment operator’s certificate
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of safety rules in a manufacturing environment
  • Able to work collaboratively with a group to achieve production and quality goals
  • Knowledge of forklift maneuvers and procedures
