Georgia-Pacific- Mechanical Electrical Technician (Cuba, MO)

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Mechanical Electrical Technician for our Cuba, MO facility.  This is a highly skilled position that requires an individual to troubleshoot and maintain manufacturing equipment while constantly demonstrating safe work practices.  Mechanical Electrical Technicians (METs) create value by performing preventative and corrective maintenance which leads to increased uptime and reliability enabling the facility to meet production and quality goals.
 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Troubleshooting and repairing electric/electronic equipment, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems
  • Installing, maintaining, and tuning of electrical and instrumentation systems including Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
  • Programming process control and electrical control systems
  • Participating in a Preventative Maintenance (PM) program
  • Collaborating with operations to identify and prioritize maintenance needs
  • Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures and actively participating in the safety program
  • Recording work results and parts usage in computerized maintenance management system
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an Industrial Electrician
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical and instrument control systems and maintenance support equipment such as motor controls, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), AC/DC drives, and low voltage switchgears
  • Experience welding with ARC and MIG welding units
  • Experience with Plasma cutter and Oxygen/Acetylene set
  • Experience reading technical diagrams and schematics
  • Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance routines and practices
  • Willing and able to work any shift to include variable start times, nights, overtime, weekends, and holidays
  • Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment
  • Willing and able to wear the necessary Personal Protection equipment (PPE) to include hard hats, safety glasses, face shield, chemical suit, respirator, ear plugs, hearing protection, steel-toe boots or safety shoes and other PPE required by specific jobs
  • Willing and able to climb ladders and complete tasks at heights over 100 feet
  • Willing and able to adhere to safety rules and regulations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two (2) year technical degree in Maintenance Mechanics or Industrial Maintenance Technology
  • Five (5) or more years of experience as an Industrial Electrician and  Maintenance Mechanic
  • Experience utilizing a computerized maintenance management system
  • Experience operating a motorized forklift and/or clamp truck, skyjack and scissor lift
