INVISTA- Power House & Utilities Engineer (Waynesboro, VA)

The Power House and Utilities Engineer is an operational based role in the utilities group in our Waynesboro industrial manufacturing facility.  The role is responsible for the efficient operation of the utility systems on the Waynesboro INVISTA manufacturing site. This includes steam generation and distribution, refrigeration systems, compressed air system, cooling towers, and HVAC systems.
Provide technical support to utilities operation and maintenance to insure continuous supply of vital utilities to the manufacturing facility.
Work with the Environmental professionals to insure compliance with applicable regulations, insuring processes are in place to assure compliance and review for effectiveness
Utilities subject matter expert  including defining equipment/system current capabilities, identifying constraints and possible solutions and providing input to planning processes
Participate in Safety and Environmental programs/investigations and other work processes as directed
Monitor equipment and systems to insure efficient operation
Identify improvements and develop scope to realize them
Provide support in the maintenance and development of operating procedures and operating limits.
Maintain and analyze performance records taking action to correct deficiencies
Lead site energy efficiency improvement programs and site energy management team.  Represent site on company energy teams and networks.
Maintain and own site mass and energy balance
Insure the accurate, timely and proper submission of government required reports
Manage small projects in the utilities area

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or technical field OR a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with Equivalent Military Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy, utilities or closely related
Must be willing to support facility operation during off hours and be flexible in working hours
Must be able and willing to work in a manufacturing environment including extended periods of time in noisy, non-air conditioned or unheated spaces

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
Industrial manufacturing or utility experience
Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a technical resource with steam boilers, industrial sized chillers, air compressors, and cooling towers.
Project development and management experience

Understanding of Thermodynamics, thermal sciences, energy conversion and mass and energy balancing.
Process and financial modeling using spreadsheets
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Knowledge of related industrial standards including NFPA , ASHRAE, ASME, National Board
Must be able to work in a team environment and be able to interface effectively with others
