Details:

Driver will be doing runs from Rapid City to Des Moines twice per week. Drive to Des Moines, overnight in a hotel (company expense), return the next day to Rapid City.

Responsibilities:

  • Check the vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions following signals from loading crew while checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
  • Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.
  • Electronically maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage to the vehicles.
  • Secure cargo for transport using ropes, blocks, chains, binders or covers.
  • Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes to document weights and to comply with state regulations.
  • Inventory and inspect goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions.
  • Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, CB radios and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors or other drivers.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks such as adding oil, fuel, radiator fluid or performing minor repairs.
  • Check conditions of trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage.
  • Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
  • Read and interpret maps to determine vehicle routes.
  • Crank trailer landing gear up or down to safely secure vehicles.
  • Load and unload trucks, help others with loading and unloading, operate any special loading-related equipment on vehicles and use other equipment as necessary.
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs or tire chains.
  • Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS), or other navigation devices to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
    Qualifications:
  • CDL Drivers License
  • 2 years recent Class A driving experience
  • Clean MVR
  • Ability to pass the USPS background check and a DOT physical including functional capacity exam and drug screen
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check

    Compensation: Hourly rate is determined by the USPS Wage Determination

United Blood Services, a leader in the blood banking industry, is now accepting applications for the position of Medical Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist.   We need people experienced or interested in the challenge of advanced immunohematology, as well as routine transfusion medicine workups. This position will also perform center tests and qualification of components.
Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, medical technology, or clinical laboratory science required. Prefer minimum of 1 year of clinical experience (internship would suffice). Certification as an MT or SBB by a recognized certifying agency is strongly preferred.
The ideal candidate must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend and lift up to 40 lbs; be very detail oriented with strong communication, organizational and analytical skills, and must maintain donor, patient and employee confidentiality. Assist the Recruiter in conducting recruitment effort at the site for selection of top candidates, which includes creating and placing job ads, screening applications, telephone screening, panel interviewing, testing, offers of employment verification, background verifications, and drug screen testing. This will include preparing offer and rejection letters as well as other correspondences.
Maintain applicant flow logs and I-9’s, ensuring all necessary information is complete and compliant.
Assist with New Hire orientation.
Complete employment verifications.
Create/run statistical reports on new hires, promotions, terminations, etc.
Provide backup support for input terms/resignations/affirmative action information/salary planning and personal data changes into Access daily.
Maintain employee Database through HR Software package (Access).
Maintain all personal files – including active and inactive.
Serves as back-up to other HR team members.
Adhere to safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment for all.
